Mission
To protect, conserve, and enhance the health of the Earth's ecosystems and the people depending on them by supporting integrated grassroots efforts in agroforestry, reforestation, protection of watersheds and water and sanitation.

Objectives

We meet this ojective by:

  • Supplying free seeds of multipurpose, nitrogen-fixing, fast growing tropical tree species to in-country partners who re-distribute the seeds locally.
  • Supplying training and educational materials for agroforestry and reforestation projects.
  • Providing small grants to support local trainings in reforestation and agroforestry and to purchase basic equipment needed for reforestation efforts.
  • Supporting the creation of local seed sources and local seed banks.
  • Promoting watershed protection
To provide clean reliable water and sanitation services to rural communities in Central America and the Caribbean by supporting local water associations, committees and organizations.

We meet this objective by:

  • Providing appropriate technology and products to disinfect water
  • Supporting networks of rural water associations.
  • Supporting efforts to create a water and sanitation certification program
  • Supporting the expansion of the Circuit Rider Program in Latin America.
  • Providing training and information materials to better understand watersheds, and the relationships between forests, water, environment and health.
